WHITEROCKS BEACH
Is a stretch of golden sand beach extending from Portrush East Strand to the ruins of Dunluce Castle. It is a picturesque beach with stunning white limestone cliffs and high sand dunes, accessed via a downward winding road from the main coast road. Views from the beach overlook Portrush, ‘The Skerries’ and Scotland in the distance. Particularly good for surfing, this beach is popular for various water sports, walking, Parkrun and horse riding. A boardwalk leads to the beach from a large car park, where there are also shower facilities and amenities.

HEAVY SURF
Whiterocks picks up more swell than East Strand, resulting in heavy surf and strong currents that run along the beach.
WHITE ROCKS HAZARDS
Large Surf
During the winter there are large waves.
Strong Rip Current Area
The rip current is located in front of the first white rock to the right of the beach entrance.
Temporary Rip Currents Along The Beach
Small rips are present at intervals along beach, varying according to conditions and tidal state.
Steep drop Off And Strong Currents Are Common
The strong current can sweep you down or up the beach away from the lifeguarded patrolled area.
Tidal Cut Off To East Of Beach
You may get cut off three hours prior to high tide.
Cliff Walk Path
Stay away from the cliff edge to prevent injury especially on windy days.
Horse path
This is where horses enter and exit the beach, use the main beach entrance at the carpark to access the beach.
Steep Sand Dune
This is a popular area for climbing and sliding down, be careful as falling could cause injury.
