WEST STRAND
This curved golden sand town beach is situated on the west side of Portrush. To the northern end is the harbour, Lifeboat station and several bustling restaurants. A promenade borders the beach with a large grass area, ample car parking and amenities which lie beyond. Views from the shore look toward the Donegal hills and Ramore Head. The town itself is easily accessed where many shops, eateries, accommodations and entertainment can be found. It is a popular beach for swimming, water sports and dog walking.

A high level of water traffic passes through here. Stay clear of the harbour entrance!
WEST STRAND HAZARDS

Permanent rip Current Area
Stay away from this area as the rocks are sharp and a strong rip flows out along the black rocks.
Large Surf
During winter there are large waves.
Rip Current Area
There is normally a strong rip current inline with the stream.
Tidal Cut Off
Tide cuts off the beach on high tide. Waves crash up against seawall with large surf.
Permanent Rip Current Area
Rip current runs along the harbour wall, stay away from this area.
